Teaching Philosophy

As a Sociologist, I am aware that structures of inequality do not disappear when students enter the classroom and can in fact be reproduced in these spaces if they go unaddressed. I strive to create an equal playing field for students to the greatest extent possible and to incorporate perspectives that are reflective of the student populations I serve. My teaching philosophy focuses on creating equitable learning environments, centering student voices, and using diverse pedagogical tools that make students feel curious and excited about learning.
